Florence E. "Flo" McClain, a cherished matriarch and beacon of joy, passed away on March 25, 2025, at the age of 98 in Indianapolis, IN. Born on April 7, 1926, in Greenwood, IN, Flo's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the love she cultivated around her.
Flo's early years in Greenwood laid a strong foundation for the remarkable woman she would become. Her laughter and kindness were the hallmarks of her personality, traits that only deepened with time. As she grew, so did her capacity for generosity and thoughtfulness, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In her later years, Flo became a beloved figure at Community Hospital South, where she dedicated 26 years of service as a volunteer. Her commitment to helping others was a true reflection of her generous nature. Flo's involvement with Rocklane Christian Church was equally significant, where she remained very active, embodying the church's values of compassion and community.
Flo's interests were as vibrant and diverse as her personality. She found solace in the tranquility of her garden, tending to her plants with the same care she gave to her relationships. Music filled her home with melody and joy, while her passion for baseball and golf kept her active and engaged. Flo's love for these pastimes was only surpassed by the love she had for her family.
Flo's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda (Ron) Hoff, her adoring grandsons, Wes (Ashley) Parkhurst and Austin Hoff, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Camden, Jaida, Haven, Deegan Parkhurst, and Mavryck Hoff. Her family will forever treasure the memories and the legacy of love she leaves behind. Flo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, and her dear granddaughter, Amanda Hoff Larsen, as well as her five siblings, with whom she now joins in eternal peace.
Flo's life was one of laughter and giving, and those who knew her often described her as funny, generous, and thoughtful. Her ability to find humor in the everyday and her readiness to extend a helping hand were qualities that endeared her to many. Flo's presence was a gift to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt.
As we bid farewell to Florence E. "Flo" McClain, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart generously shared. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her grace and warmth.

So sorry for your loss. We will miss seeing her smile and talking with her.
My mother is at University Health and Living two doors down from Flo. Flo always had a smile. So sweet and kind to us. Talk with us every time we went to visit with my mom. She would always say "I am going home this evening" She made it to her heavenly home!
You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
