Floyd Allen Childress, III, smiled and ran into the arms of Jesus on August 22, 2025 at 12:55 PM, surrounded by his family.
Floyd is survived by Marsha, his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years; three children, Jason Childress (Amy) of Franklin, TN, Helene S. Childress (Katie) of Pine Lake, GA, Marisha Childress of Braselton, GA; two sisters, Nancy Woody of Mosley, VA, Jane Mandy of Clinton Township, MI; and many nieces and nephews; two special grandchildren, Aiden Childress and Parker Saucedo who called him PopPop that were especially tough for him to leave behind.
Floyd was a business/finance graduate of Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC. He worked for Reynolds Metals, Treasure Chest, Sullivan Graphics, American Color Graphics, Inc., Vertis Communications, and Larson Juhl as either their Credit Manager or VP and Assistant Treasurer. He retired in November of 2012 and immediately started cruising. He loved to Travel. He also enjoyed being a Deacon at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Buford and performing funerals for special loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday August 30, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Buford. Pastor Danny Newbern will officiate. A private interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
