Ann Seay Childress, 88 of Laurens, and wife of the late Joseph David Childress, Jr., went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Woodruff, she was the daughter of the late Alfred T. and Elsie Parris Seay. Ann worked at 3M company and was joint owner of Childress of Laurens dress shop with sister-in-law, Amelia Childress. She was a member of St. James Methodist Church and attended Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Ann was a faithful member of CRBC and the Golden Chestnuts until her health began to decline. She loved her family, helping on the farm, and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren over the years.
Ann is survived by her daughter Jeri Manley (Randy), sons Monty Childress (Tina) and Scott Childress, grandchildren, Brooke Benjamin (John Walter), Heather Gaillard (Adam), Ben Childress (Maddie Hall), Amber Childress Ives (Geoffrey), Cole Childress (Olivia Martin), Dawn Tyre (Mac), and Leslie Werts (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Kylie Gaillard, Audre Gaillard, Sawyer Childress, Autumn Werts, and Savannah Werts; adopted grandchildren, Aiden and Alex Graddick; and a "daughter from another mother," Laurie West.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Wade Dixon Seay and Jerry Seay; and in-laws, Joe and Nivy Childress.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025, 11:00 AM at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alex D. Henderson. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. There will be a private family burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the Lutheran Hospice for their love and support to Ann during her final months.
