Floyd Holt, 82, of Speedsville, NY, passed away peacefully in the home he built for him and his family 62 years ago on March 26, 2025. Born on February 13, 1943, in Johnson City, NY, he was the son of the late Floyd E. and Aline (Howland) Holt. Floyd was employed by Howland Brothers Company in Berkshire, NY, and graduated from Foley Industrial Technology in Minneapolis, MN. Floyd had a passion for hunting and fishing. He also loved classic cars and was proud to show his classic Lincoln.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 62 years, Merle Marie “Sis” (Watkins) Holt. He also leaves behind his children, Shirley Rupert (Rich), Bill Holt (Marian), Tina Holt, Richard Jager, George Jager, and Trentyn Barrows; grandchildren, Matt Hopkins, Angel Haskins (Tyler), Jessica Rupert, William Holt (Kailey), Christopher Rupert (Coral), Nicholas Holt (Morganne), Nathan Holt (Zanna); and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Carson, Rennie, Mayson, William III, Haven, Tucker, Ember, Theo, Chieyann, Jude, Jaxon and Kayce. Also surviving are his brother, Richard (Cathy); best friend, Doug Chevalier (Carol); extended family, Travis (Kristin), Neal, Serria, Jr., Tayler, Emily, Aaron, and Dillon; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Floyd and Sis were also proud foster parents to 29 children over a period of 21 years. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Bob.
In keeping with Floyd’s wishes, there will be no public services.
