Forrest Donald “Don” Nye, 79, of Doe Run passed away January 1, 2025 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born June 3, 1945 in Bourbon, MO to the late Forrest Able and Cleo Helen (Sauders) Nye. Don was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Doe Run and enjoyed researching biblical prophecy. He loved being outdoors working on his farm and mowing grass. He also enjoyed volunteering in the Doe Run community, where he served as President of the Fire Department and worked many hours to incorporate the City of Doe Run. He graduated from Lincoln University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration. He then worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development until he started Nye Management in 1979, where he worked on accounting, managing and developing apartment complexes in Missouri, Texas, Illinois, Arkansas, Kansas and Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Ann Nye; brother, Robert Howard Nye; and brother-in-law, Roger Brown.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (Wachter) Nye; son, Shawn Forrest Nye; adopted grandson, Landon Kadow; six siblings, Ronald Allen (Judy) Nye, Patricia Lizotte, Sharon Babcock, Linda Brown, Michael Dean (Anne) Nye, Nancy (Rick) Horner; special niece, Stacy Kadow. Several nieces, nephews and family also survive.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM on Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Doe Run until the time of service at Noon. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
