Frances Taylor Ard passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2024 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 81.
Fran was born on December 25, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky and spent much of her childhood in Magnolia, KY. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Green County until the 5th grade. After graduating from LaRue County High in 1960, she studied music at Western Kentucky University.
In 1962, she married Harold. They moved several times, spending many years in Gaylord, MN; Schuylkill Haven, PA: Galion, OH; Tupelo, MS; and Portland, OR. They made friends wherever they went.
Fran worked for various companies, including Edward Jones for 19 years. She became involved with Al-Anon in 1976 and devoted much of her time to assisting families affected by the disease of alcoholism. As part of her work with Al-Anon, she represented Mississippi as a World Service delegate for three years.
She was an excellent pianist and had a beautiful singing voice. In addition to her love of music, Fran was an avid reader and walker. In recent years, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Harold Ard; her son Tony Ard (Lisa) of Portland, OR; her son Daniel Ard of Nashville, TN; her daughter-in-law Beth Brdlik of Portland, OR; her siblings Rachel, Lynn, Jay, and Vanessa; and her grandchildren Holden, Molly, Riley, Veronica, Juliette, and Madeleine. She was preceded in death by her son Jonathan Ard and her sister Carlene.

Fran was the dearest person , full of fun and jokes. I have Mr. dearly since I moved back to California and didn´t know she had passed. I´m so sad.
