Jerry Farr
Date Of Birth: 11/15/1945
Date of Death: 08/20/2025
Jerry William Farr was born in Grants Pass, Oregon on November 15, 1945 to the parents of William H. Farr and Beverly (Calhoun) Farr. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 20, 2025 at the age of 79, just three months shy of his 80th birthday. He is survived by Pamela (Packwood) Farr, wife of 59 years; daughters Michelle Evans (Craig) and Andrea Griffin (Jeremy); grandchildren Austin Griffin (Maddison), Megan Griffin, Michael Evans, Peyton Griffin, and Katelynn Evans; his sister Linda (Farr) Lile; his Aunt Trisha, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents William H Farr and Beverly (Calhoun) Farr.
Jerry was self-proclaimed family-man who loved his Beavers, teaching, and coaching football and softball. He was known for being a favorite teacher who gave warm hugs. He was a devoted Beav and a proud member of Phi Delta Theta.
Jerry graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1963 and proceeded to Oregon State University where he played football and got the privilege of going to the 1965 Rose Bowl with the Beavs. He coached Powder Puff football, where he met his beautiful bride Pam. They were married on August 6, 1966 in Reno by a one-armed Justice of the Peace. He told them that their marriage would last as they were the first couple to ever ask him to sign a Bible (and he was really old).
Jerry graduated from OSU in 1971. He went back to college at Portland State University in his 30s to finish his pursuit of his passion for becoming a teacher. Mr. Farr was a proud teacher at Brown Junior High School (1980-1997) and Century High School (1997-2001). He coached softball and football throughout most of his teaching career. He coached soccer his very first year teaching and only had one loss. He also enjoyed coaching his girls for summer softball. He was nominated on several occasions for the Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
Jerry loved watching all Beaver athletics. He and Pam had season tickets to Beaver football for many years with soggy tuna sandwiches in the endzone with a family pass where the girls could each bring a friend, until they finally got their covered seats. He enjoyed crocheting Beaver scarves for the teams and any other Beaver fan who wanted one, as well as baby blankets. One of his proudest moments came in the form of a thank you card signed by the entire OSU Gymnastics Team, which included the signature of Jade Carey, an Olympic Gold Medalist. He also liked fishing, RVing, and boating.
