Frances Flossie (Bates) Crader, 83, Marion, peacefully and quietly passed away at 2:23 am on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Marion Health with family by her side. She was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on Friday, October 31, 1941, to the late Amos and Ercell Bates. She married Richard Crader on January 10, 1962, who preceded her in death.
Frances graduated from Marion High School. She worked at the VA Hospital in Marion and Delta Electric Company. Most importantly, she loved being a wife and mother. She spent her entire life looking out and caring for others.
Survivors include her son, John (Denice) Crader of Hanahan, SC; sister, Marie Lovelady of Montpelier; grandson, Justin (Izzy) Crader of Huntington; granddaughters, Brandi Crader of Marion and Dacia (Tony) Crader of Hanahan, SC; great-grandchildren: Alexis, Justin, Jr., Maci, Taylor, Lydia, Javyn, Jazzmyne, Ian, Joey, and Hudson; bonus great-grandchildren: Tyler, Ethan, Hunter, Noel, and Dominic; great-great-granddaughter, Kai'lahni; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bush; special nephew, Robert (Melissa Rangel) Drake; and many more nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, James Bates, Alvin Bates, and Howard Bates; and sisters, Lyla Ruth Bates and Elizabeth Patton.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Frances' life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Todd Graham officiating. Entombment will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
