Frances Marie "Fanny" (Frank) Hunter, of Huntington Beach, CA, formerly of Oglesby, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Huntington Beach Guest Homes, where she was a resident for two and a half years. A Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, LaSalle in conjunction with the burial of her son, Gerald Hunter. Arrangements are entrusted to the Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby.
Fanny was born on January 30, 1925 in Oglesby to Frank, Sr. and Sophie (Pershu) Frank. She graduated from La Salle-Peru Township High School and LPO Junior College. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado, attended Chapman College, and received her Master of Education degree from Pepperdine University in California. She married Robert Douglas Hunter on August 3, 1941 in Tipton, IA. He passed away on January 24, 1998 in Huntington Beach.
Fanny was initially a secretary at the E.E. Alger's office in La Salle. While there, she completed her education at LPO and began a lifetime career as an elementary school teacher. She taught at Tonica, Oglesby, Peru, and Huntington Beach, CA elementary schools. After her retirement, she became a volunteer server for the Huntington Beach Senior Center until she was 92 years old. She was also a member of the Huntington Beach Retired Teachers Association.
Fanny was a very devout Christian. She was a member of the Oglesby Union Church and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, CA, where she belonged to several church groups. She loved her family and looked forward to visitors from the Midwest coming to her home in Huntington Beach. She particularly enjoyed visits to California sites in the family motorhome.
Fanny is survived by one son, Danny D. Hunter, of Huntington Beach, CA; her daughter-in-law, Sue Hunter, of Oglesby; one sister-in-law, Geri Frank of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Her son, Gerald "Jerry" Hunter of Oglesby, passed away on December 22, 2025.

Fanny Hunter was a dear woman I loved and met at the Oglesby Union Church. Douglas Hunter was my science teacher. Because of him, my career was a tremendous success . I retired i. 2016 at 70. Executive Director of Weaver Tower at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville. I got my education and had a wonderful career. They both were my idols in our little town.
