Frances Rodgers Obituary Our beloved mother and grandmother, Frances (Frannie, Fran, Francie) Schwartz Rodgers, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, while wintering with her children in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Pittsburgh in 1934, she celebrated her 91st birthday this past January.
Mom was the heart and soul of our home and family and was not only beautiful on the outside but was beautiful on the inside as well. She raised four daughters, Elaine (Christopher), Mary, Christina (Lawrence) and Carolyn in a happy and loving home to be independent, responsible, caring and generous adults. Mom was married to our father, her high school sweetheart, John Rodgers, superstar 1940's Etna High School football player, who predeceased her one month shy of their 66th wedding anniversary.
As a grandmother to Joseph, Julia and Katherine Pugar, Savannah Jones (Brody) and Joseph Massa she was known for her kind heart, gift giving, great story telling and genuine concern for their everyday wellbeing. Each of her grandchildren made her a proud grandmother and as one granddaughter commented, "Grandma was our queen!"
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again at 6:00 PM to 8:00 at Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA. A Mass to celebrate Mom's journey home will be held on Saturday, April 12th at 10:30 AM at Christ the King Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 210 Garnier Street, Sharpsburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, if you are so inclined, please make a donation to St. Jude's Children Hospital, a charity most near and dear to Mom's heart.
