Frances Marie Sarubbi (nee Mauro) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Frances was born in Cliffside Park, New Jersey on April 28, 1927. After high school, Frances attended Katherine Gibbs School and worked in her father's company, Hudson Chrome Plating, until she married her husband, Edward J. Sarubbi. Later, she also worked as the Assistant to the Dean of Endodontics at Fairleigh Dickinson University Dental School, Teaneck, New Jersey until she retired.
Edward and Frances were married on Valentine's day, February 14, 1954. They were married for 66 years when Edward passed in 2021.
Frances and Edward resided in Hillsdale, New Jersey for 33 years before moving to Lakewood, New Jersey. Once retired, Frances and Edward spent fifteen years as "snow birds" splitting their time between their homes in Naples, Florida and Lakewood, New Jersey. They both loved to travel and over the years they visited many European countries, areas in New England and various islands in the Bahamas.
Growing up in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, Frances formed a lifelong bond with a group of girls who called themselves the "Coquettes". As youths, they wore the same clothing one day each week. Over the years, they became the "Club". The Club (without husbands) met monthly at each other's houses where these lifelong friends talked about their families and their lives.
Most important to Frances was her family. Having grown up in a large Sicilian family – "la familia" was everything. Sunday dinners at home or at her parents' lake house on Cupsaw Lake, Ringwood, NJ. Her life was dedicated to her husband and children. She would be seen at every sporting event, competition and show, cheering on her children and later her grandchildren. Each special event was celebrated with special homemade dessert afterwards.
Holiday dinners also had their own set of special dishes and desserts. In preparation for each holiday, Frances would be found in the kitchen cooking and baking all the holiday delights. Over the years, she shared her love of cooking and baking with her children and grandchildren. Every child anticipated Nana's "fried artichoke hearts" and "Yule Log" which were only served on Christmas Eve and day.
Frances is survived by her son, Edward J. Sarubbi and his wife, Judith A. Sarubbi; daughter, Joanne M. Sarubbi and her husband, Arthur V. Lippens; and daughter, Lisa A. Troisi, and her fiance', Carlist A. Creech. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Brian Sarubbi and his wife, Allison Sarubbi; Alyssa Sarubbi and her fiancé, Kevin Cotte; Christopher Sarubbi and his wife, Olive Sarubbi; Andrew H. Lippens; Perry M. Troisi and his fiancee', Molly Colgan and Julia G. Troisi, along with four great grandchildren.
Her parents, Anthony Mauro and Giovanna a/k/a Jennie Mauro (nee Cernigliaro), predeceased her. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony Mauro, as well as many nieces and nephews.
