Vincent (Vinnie) Paul Sarubbi, a lifelong resident of Newington, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Born in Hartford, he was the beloved son of the late Anthony Sarubbi and Pauline (Dandurand) Sarubbi.
Vinnie proudly served his country after being drafted into the U.S. Army, completing a tour in Vietnam. A dedicated veteran, he remained active with the VFW throughout his life, forming deep friendships and a strong sense of community with fellow servicemen.
A man of simple pleasures, Vinnie enjoyed playing softball for many years, spending time outdoors on the golf course, and cheering on his favorite teams-the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and the UCONN Huskies. He also looked forward to playing cards and spending time with his veteran friends, as well as his new-found friends at the Market Square apartment complex, where camaraderie and laughter were always guaranteed.
Vinnie was predeceased by his beloved companion Donna (Yacavone) Fitzgerald. He leaves behind his daughters, Lori Sarubbi and Nicole Sarubbi Pappa. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemarie Sarubbi-Lyons; his brothers, Anthony Sarubbi (and wife Mary) and George Sarubbi; and his three cherished granddaughters, Katrina, Gabriella, and Talia. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Suzanne, Kaitlin, Geoffrey, and Philip.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, loyalty, and the easygoing nature that endeared him to all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Vinnie's family on Monday, November 24, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. To honor his service to our country, military honors will be rendered at the start of the visitation at 3:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Newington Memorial. Vinnie will be laid to rest in a private, family ceremony. To share a condolence with his family, please visit www.duksa.net.
