Frances B. Stewart

Frances B. Stewart, after a four year battle with ovarian cancer, passed away at age 74 on Monday June 16, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Fran was born in Providence, RI on April 1, 1951, a daughter of the late Frank and Dolores (LaChance) Barra. She had resided in Londonderry for eight years, formerly living in Hampstead and Derry, NH.
Fran was so proud of her career as a first-grade teacher, helping hundreds of young people get all of their lights turned on. Always incredibly nice, Fran was a mix of unstoppable energy, brilliant wit, and pure soul. All who knew her were enriched by her beauty, grace, and sincerity. Although she was called home too soon, you will see her in the smiles of people she knew and hear her in the laughter of children.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 47 years, James L. Stewart of Londonderry; her son, Ryan J. Stewart and his wife Amy of Medford, MA; stepdaughter, Jennifer Smith and her husband Chad of Franklin, NH; stepson, John P. Stewart and his wife Caitlin of Arlington, VA; and her brother; Michael Barra and his wife Licia of Beaufort, SC; plus, four grandchildren, Vivian, Margot, Dean and Mac and two nephews Matt and Nick.
Following cremation, a private memorial gathering may be held at a later date at the family's convenience.
