HIGHGATE - Francis C. Burnor, age 81, passed away on Monday, April 1st, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 29, 1942 in St. Albans to the late Carlyle & Ernestine (Menard) Burnor.
A man with a passion for the outdoors and a keen love for hunting and shooting, Francis began indulging in these hobbies from young age. He was a graduate of BFA St. Albans, where he enjoyed playing baseball. After proudly serving his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and being stationed in Okinawa, Francis embarked on a successful career as a machinist and supervisor at GE before later becoming the maintenance director at the Sheldon School.
Throughout his life, he found joy in spending time with his son hunting during the deer season and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Known for his captivating storytelling and great sense of humor, Francis was often spotted in his trademark plaid shirt, woodworking in his shop, or capturing memories behind a camera lens. He was an avid traveler, Francis achieved the impressive feat of visiting all 50 states in America.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Burnor; their children, Jessica Burnor Jennings and her significant other Lee Bodette, and Michael Burnor and his wife Ginger Santor; grandchildren, Meghan, Dylan, Taylor, Ian, and Mason; great grandchildren, Parker, Ryleigh, and Liam; his sister, Dawn Quick and her husband Dave; sisters-in-law, Shila Divelbiss, Sally Severy and her husband Albert, and Speranza Jones; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, Francis was predeceased by his daughter, Tonya Burnor; his son-in-law, John Jennings; his brother, Reginald Burnor; brothers-in-law, Harry Divelbiss, and Alan Jones; and a special sister-in-law, Sandy Jones.
Francis' family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sanders and his team for the care he received.
