Francis "Pud" Hilferty

Francis "Pud" Hilferty age 88, died December 17, 2020 at Belvedere Nursing Home in Chester, PA. Born April 10, 1932 at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital. Resident of Trainer. Worked at Glen Mills School in Media, PA, as a counselor for many years. Prior to Glen Mills School, he worked as machinist at Baldwin's in Eddystone, PA. Son of Marie (nee) McGhean & James Hilferty. Brother to James, Edward, William (and survived by), Mary Runner and Anne Cooper. Upon retirement, he caddied at Springhaven Golf Club, Wallingford, PA, where he shot a hole-in-one and proudly carried the golf ball everywhere he went and told the tale until his passing. He could always be found at the local racetrack betting on his favorite horses. He was a sweet and kind man, beloved by his family and caretakers at Belvedere, and will be sorely missed.
Funeral Mass Thursday,, 10:30am at St. Joseph's Church, 500 Woodlawn Ave., Collingdale, PA, 19023 with visitation Thursday, 9:30-10:30am at the church. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
