Francis "Frank" E. MacCrory, III, of Irvine, California, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, in Long Beach, California. Born in New Jersey, Frank's journey through life was marked by his intelligence, dedication, and the love he shared with those around him.
Frank grew up in Marlton, New Jersey. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to excellence continued at Drexel University, where he once again distinguished himself by graduating as the valedictorian of his class. Frank's passion for learning led him to the University of California-Irvine, where he earned his doctorate.
Frank honorably served his country as a member of the US Army during Operation Desert Storm from 1988 to 1992. His service was a point of pride and taught him lessons in leadership and resilience that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, Frank embarked on a career in academia and research. He was a respected post-doc and researcher at MIT before becoming a professor, shaping young minds at Fordham University and later at the University of California-Irvine.
Beyond his professional life, Frank was a man who cherished the time spent with his family above all else. He leaves behind his loving wife of over 20 years, Cynthia MacCrory nee He, and their two sons, Matthew and Michael, who were the light of his life. Frank's legacy also lives on through his brother, Stephen MacCrory (Jackie), his sister, Christine Morison (David), and his nephews, Luke, Mason, Nick, and Jacob, along with many other family members and friends who felt his influence.
Predeceased by his parents, Francis E. MacCrory, II and Lisa MacCrory, Frank's memory will be honored and cherished by his family, friends, colleagues, and students. His impact on the world was significant, and his spirit will continue to guide those he touched.
Frank's interests were as varied as they were rich. He had a voracious appetite for reading, always with a book in hand, and he relished the opportunity to travel, exploring new cultures and expanding his horizons.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt 73 South and Evesham Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. The funeral service will begin at 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. A committal service with military honors will take place at 11:30 am, on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
