Francis Marchessault Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Britton-Wallace Funeral Home - Auburn on Dec. 10, 2024.
Francis J. "Frank" Marchessault, 94, of Lunenberg and formerly of Marston's Mills, passed away surrounded by his family on the morning of Thursday, December 5, 2024.
He was the devoted husband of Claire L. (Gervais) Marchessault, with whom he shared 71 wonderful years of marriage. Frank's deep love for Claire and his faith in God were the foundation of their family. Together they raised four children, all of whom carry on his legacy of kindness, integrity, and unwavering devotion to family. He leaves behind his loving children: Denise DeOliveira and her husband Francisco, of Leominster; Stephen Marchessault and his wife Linda, of Rutland; Ron Marchessault and his wife Dana, of Mashpee; and Michael Marchessault and his wife Katie, of Cumberland, ME.
He was also the proud grandfather of ten cherished grandchildren: Stephen, Daniel, Jennifer, Sarah, Justin, Cristina, Nicholas, Michael, Benjamin, and James. Frank's heart swelled with pride for his eight great-grandchildren, who were a source of joy in his later years. He is survived by his brother, Paul Marchessault, of Tewksbury, and was predeceased by his brother, George Marchessault, of Prescott, AZ.
Born in Auburn, Frank was the son of the late George and Irene (Plante) Marchessault. He graduated from Auburn High School and, in 1951, enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve his country during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, Frank returned to civilian life and pursued higher education at Northeastern University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Frank enjoyed a successful and distinguished 40-year career at IBM, where he worked in both the United States and Japan, rising to the position of Executive. His professional accomplishments were matched only by the joy he found in his personal life, especially the years spent with family and friends.
Frank's life was full of adventure, love, and laughter. He and Claire built homes on Cape Cod, where their doors were always open to loved ones. Frank had a passion for boating, fishing, and golf, often enjoying these pursuits with family by his side. He cherished traveling the world and creating lasting memories with those he held dear.
Frank was a man of faith, integrity, and generosity. He was deeply involved in his community and a loyal member of Christ the King Parish in Mashpee. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Christ the King Parish Thrift Shop, Mashpee Mass, benefitting St. Vincent de Paul Society of Cotuit, a cause close to Frank's heart. You can donate at https://christthekingparish.com/thrift-shop/
Frank's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather-a man who gave his all to those he loved. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light to all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Marchessault family from 4 – 7 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford Street N, Auburn, with burial to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Dear Claire,
It is, no doubt, surprising to you to receive a message from me with more than 35 years of interval. I am sorry. Please allow me to send my deepest condolences for Frank. You and Frank were so nice to me while my young years. I always thanked you but I was too inmature or under-experienced to receive your kindness. I was maybe 26 when I first met you in Tokyo and 28 when I received Cross Pens at my commencement of NYU from you and called you. From my best memory, that was the last contact till now.
Back in Japan, I have got married just 30 years ago, May 1995 and have 2 grown up children. Neither has yet married. I retired from government in 2019, and now I just finished Dean, School of Health Sciences, Fujita Health University, located near Nagoya. I work around Nagoya on weekdays and stay with my wife, Yasuyo on weekends.
I've got some impulse telling me to look for whereabouts of you, Claire and Frank 30 minutes ago to find Frank's passing away just several months ago. I am feeling so sorry but I fortunately found a clue to reach you, Claire.
Thank you very much. This is the message I was unable to say to you enough.
I would be pleased if I could hear from you.
