Francoisé "Frenchie" (Walters) Ashby, 79, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Linda E. White Hospice House.
Frenchie was born in Paris, France on March 2, 1946. She worked at Bristol Myers, retiring after 15 years of exemplary service. Frenchie was a car enthusiast and was most proud of her 1940 Cherry Street Rod, 2000 Custom Cherry Pick-Up and her 2024 Corvette. She was a woman of deep faith and a long-time member of Old North United Methodist Church. Above all else, Frenchie loved spending time with her family, especially with her son, her most wonderful daughter-in-law, and with her beloved grandchildren. She was also an avid animal lover with a special fondness for cats and dogs. Frenchie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Frenchie is survived by her husband, Edward Ashby of Evansville, IN; son, Todd E. Ashby (Katherine) of Naperville, IL; and her grandchildren, Hannah, Grace, Jack and Selah Ashby all of Chicago, IL; and her brother, Donald Ray Walters (Jill) of Elberfeld, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Therese (Garreaux) Walters.
A celebration of Frenchie's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Slaughters Cemetery in Slaughters, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 10:30 am until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Old North United Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Rd., Evansville, IN 47711 or to the Vanderburgh Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Dr., Evansville, IN 47710.
