Frank Wade Combs

Frank Wade Combs, a cherished pillar of the Austin, Indiana community, and a devoted servant of faith, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 1, 1955, in Hazard, Kentucky, Frank was the beloved son of the late Jim Combs and Sarah Jane (Richie) Combs.
Frank's journey was marked by a deep commitment to his spiritual life. A lifetime member of the New Beginning Ministries, he dedicated himself to reading and preaching the word of God. His passion for sharing the gospel was matched only by his unwavering dedication to living a life of sacrificial love. Frank's generosity knew no bounds, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His ability to fix anything and his vast knowledge earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Frank walked in humility and was widely regarded as a sage counselor, offering wisdom and guidance to many.
Family was the cornerstone of Frank's life. He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones and is survived by his daughters, Sylvia (David) Jansen of Frankfort, Kentucky; Sarah (Arlen) Butler of Bardstown, Kentucky; and Lillie (Stephen) Becht of Georgetown, Kentucky. He was a loving brother to Darlene McIntyre, Rolen Combs, Wayne Combs, Gary Combs, and James Combs. Frank's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Hannah Butler, Caleb Jansen, and Destin Becht, as well as his step-children, Brenda (Walker) Karst and husband Brian of Houston, Texas, Christal Walker of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Josh West and wife Stacy of Scottsburg, Indiana.
Frank was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Crawford, Wilma Gay, Addie Mae Mullins, Ruth Schryer, Shirley Stamper Mullins, and infant Thelma Combs, and his brothers, Homer, Charlie, Monroe, and Girdley Combs. He was also preceded in death by step-children, Bobbie (Walker) Combs and Laura (Walker) Little.
A funeral service to celebrate Frank's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana, with Rev. Tracy McIntyre officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on the day of the service at Buchanan Funeral Home. Frank will be laid to rest at Johnson Cemetery in Chavies, Kentucky.
