We come together today to honor and remember the life of Francis Paul Grimaldi Jr., affectionately known as Frank, a cherished and long-time member of the Carmel/Kent Lakes community and a beacon of kindness and wisdom. Born in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, Frank carried the spirit of the city with him throughout his life in the country, embodying the resilience and ingenuity that defines the residents of Carmel.
Having just turned 72, Frank's journey came to a peaceful close. His departure was attributed to natural causes, marking the end of a life well-lived and full of purpose.
A devoted father, Frank is survived by his son, Francis P. Grimaldi, who carries on his legacy with pride and love. Frank was predeceased by his loving daughter, Alexandra Grimaldi, whose memory continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her. His sisters, Connie Brown, married to Matt, and Gloria Irrure, married to Javier, along with their families, remember Frank as a pillar of strength and guidance. His nieces, Diana Preni, married to Anton, and Marisa Bauer, married to Matthew, as well as his nephew, Christopher Lyke, married to Dawn, will forever cherish the moments they shared and the lessons they learned from their beloved uncle.
Frank, an autodidact in mechanics, laid the foundation for what would become his career and profession. His expertise and dedication to his craft led him to establish Little Motors in Carmel, New York, where he was not only the owner but the heart and soul of the business. Frank's reputation as a self-employed mechanic was built on the principles of honesty, reliability, and unparalleled skill. Those who knew Frank will remember him as the embodiment of kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of advice. His wisdom was a guiding light for many, and his ability to fix not just engines but the occasional broken spirit was a testament to his compassionate nature. Frank's handiness extended beyond the garage; he was the go-to person for family and friends whenever a problem arose, no matter how big or small. As we say farewell to Francis Paul Grimaldi Jr., we celebrate a life that touched so many others in profound ways. Frank's legacy will continue to inspire and influence all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be treasured, his absence deeply felt, and his impact on the world forever appreciated. A Memorial Mass to honor and celebrate Frank's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, NY.
Following the Mass, Frank's ashes will be interred at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
