Robert P. McGuigan

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved father, Robert "Bob" McGuigan, who passed away peacefully in his Carmel home on December 23, 2025.
Born April 8, 1932 in the Bronx, NY, he and his wife, Mary moved to the Mahopac area in 1972, then later Carmel. Survived by his wife Mary of 73 years, together they had eight children, Doreen Cuchinelli (Bobby), Bobby (Barbara), Frank, Kenny, Michael and Jerry (Jaquie). Bob was predeceased by two of his children, Deborah and Kevin. Bob was blessed with twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Bob was actively involved with the Town of Carmel Republican Committee and the Putnam County Right to Life Committee, where he advocated passionately for the unborn; he sought to preserve the sanctity of human life. Bob also served on the Town of Carmel Zoning Board. Bob spent a career working for the New York City Housing Authority, retiring as a Superintendent of Contractor Inspector. Bob and his wife later ventured into several local business ventures. He was an active parishioner of St Johns the Evangelist in Mahopac and St James in Carmel.
Bob was unselfish in all his acts with his children and friends alike, leading by example to always press forward with morals and honest conviction, staying true to your word.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for a Memorial Mass to honor and celebrate Robert's life 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY.
A private cremation will take place prior to services.
