Frank Pomposelli passed away on May 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family, nine months after losing his beloved Constance. Frank was born in the Bronx, NY on August 25, 1924 to Nicholas and Theresa (Mele) Pomposelli. He attended Evander Childs High School. After graduation, Frank began to study electrical engineering at NYU, but was soon drafted into the military during World War II. He was invited to test for Officer Training and placed into the Aviation Cadet Training Program. Upon advancing through flight training, he was deployed to the European Theater as a P-47 Thunderbolt Pilot where he flew with the 493rd Fighter Squadron.
After the war, Frank returned home to the Bronx and began working at Precision Motion Picture Film Labs in New York City where he headed the color film department as a Color Analyst for many years until his retirement. It was at Precision where he met the love of his life, Connie. Frank and Connie married in 1950 and moved to Clifton, NJ. They spent the next 73 wonderful years building their life together while raising their four children.
In 1967, Frank and Connie built their summer home on Chadwick Beach Island at the Jersey Shore where they spent many years making memories with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank enjoyed boating, especially taking his grandchildren on rides around the bay and passing on his passion to the generations to come. Frank also enjoyed family ski trips, traveling with friends and family, reading and golf.
In 2008, Frank and Connie moved to the Four Seasons Great Notch in Woodland Park where they enjoyed new friendships and many activities of an active adult community. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Alhambra, and was a long-time parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle in Clifton.
Frank's proudest accomplishment was the family he built. He is survived by his cherished children Dr. Frank Pomposelli and his wife Ann, Donna Emmanuelle and her husband Joe, Thomas Pomposelli and his wife Lori, and Dr. James Pomposelli and his wife Dr. Elizabeth Pomfret, his adored grandchildren Joe, Jessica and her husband Aaron, Tom and his wife Katie, Lauren and her husband Mark, Nick, Ashley, Jackie and her wife Hannah, Cassie and her husband James, and Sophia. Frank was blessed with the love of his great grandchildren, Harper, Sydney, Anna, Charlotte, Samuel, Sloane, James and Dylan. He is also survived by his loving sister Marie Tiberi, brother-in law Anthony Benedetto, and his nieces and nephews. In addition to Connie, Frank is predeceased by his brother-in-law Bob Tiberi, sisters-in-law Marie, Ann and Donna Benedetto, and brother-in-law Emanuel Benedetto.
Frank will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His family will be forever grateful for his wonderful example of family values, and the wisdom and legacy that he passed on from being a part of the "Greatest Generation".
Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Frank and i worked together at TVC LABS from 1975 -1988 when he retired. we were both film colorists {he was the best} over that period of time we became good friends and on our coffee break we would always talk about our families he was so proud of his family his 2 sons in the medical field and his wife and girls i told him Frank you were responsible for their success. in the late 80s he said i feel like RETIRING i said go for it i am so glad he did because 3 years later TVC went bankrupt and we all lost all our money actually i called frank a few years ago talked to CONNIE and FRANK i was sorry to hear of their loss --Thanks for letting me tell my story-- Lou Cangiano
