We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Frank August Stegemann, beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, and grandfather, at age 67, peacefully passed away on May 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 24, 1958, to Frederick and Francis Stegemann, Frank was raised in Virginia Beach, with his sister Carol, and brothers Gus and John. He graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1976 and shortly afterwards met Barbara, who would become his beloved wife of forty-seven years.

Frank discovered his passion for carpentry at a young age, learning the trade with patience, dedication, and an eye for detail. Together, Barbara and Frank started Metro Associates in 1996, building beautiful custom homes in Hampton Roads. His reputation in the community of Virginia Beach over the 29 years of construction was unmatched by any other builder. His craftsmanship left a mark not just in the wood and bricks, but in the lives of the families who lived within the homes he built. More than his work, Frank will be remembered for his strong hands, steady heart, and quiet strength.

Frank's hobbies included fishing, crabbing, and all things sports. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his grandkids. He was their biggest fan - cheering them on with pride and a simple smile that never faded. His presence was a steady source of love and support.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Barbara; daughters Jennifer and husband Steven, daughter Tamyra and husband Jake, and son Jason and wife Taylor; his nine grandchildren Benjamin Johnson, Jamee Grundler, Grady Johnson, Harper Stegemann, Scarlett Johnson, Logan Grundler, Jack Stegemann, Jesse Grundler, and Luke Stegemann; brother Gus Stegemann and sister Carol Jester. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him and he will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life for Frank will be held on June 21st, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Old Donation Episcopal Church, 4449 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455. The family will be hosting a reception at 2336 Nettleford Way, in Virginia Beach directly following the Celebration of Life.
