Frank Warner Wahle, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the age of 83, after a brave battle with Alzheimer's Disease. In the heart of Frank's life were his beloved wife, Mary, née Michelau, Wahle; his sons, Michael and Christopher; and his step-children, Lori Boukas, Steve Boukas, and the late Kris Comerford (survived by Tom). His granddaughters, Olivia Thompson and BreeAnn Comerford, brought him immeasurable joy, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and adventures.
Frank's father, Franz "Frank," who immigrated to America from Germany, and mother, Alvina "Winnie," née Schamne, from Kansas City, settled their family in the Chicago area, where he was raised amidst the love and support of his family. He was a devoted brother to Harold (and partner Beverly Haws), Nancy Svarc (and husband Dag), Susan Kobeski (and husband Steve), and his late sister, Shirley Czarny (and late Ed) and a fond brother-in-law of the late Fred Michelau (and Monica Michelau). Frank also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank's early years in Chicago laid the groundwork for the exceptional individual he became, known for his ever-present willingness to help anyone who needed it. He formed life-long friendships, often regaling his companions with stories of fishing expeditions where the fish seemed to grow larger with each retelling, or his ability to outpace his peers in repairing cars, earning him the enduring moniker 'Fast Frank,' a title that remained with him until the end.
Frank was a man of many interests. His hands were rarely still, as he found solace and satisfaction in woodworking, creating pieces that were both functional and beautiful. He crafted numerous custom furniture pieces throughout the years and steadfastly refused compensation for his time or materials. Additionally, he generously donated many wood-game sets to charities, aiding in fundraising efforts for those in need. Frank was an avid fisherman and snowmobiler, cherishing the moments when he could escape to the northern woods, a place where he felt most at peace and connected with nature with great friends.
To those who had the privilege of knowing Frank, he was the embodiment of the words handy, generous, and kind. His ability to fix almost anything was matched only by his desire to share his skills with others. Frank was always the first to offer assistance to friends and family, whether it was a home repair project or moving large items. His legacy is one of selflessness and love, a legacy that will be carried on by those fortunate enough to have been touched by his spirit.

Met Frank at age 13...treated me very well!!! Great memory: which I put here before, but a great memory for me.....

We went out, hunting for a Christmas tree for y folks in about 1961 or 1962....and Frank took me to an awesome, but sadly long gone , hot dog stand on Milwaukee called "Hasty Tasty!" Their specialty: a "double dog" two dogs on a wide design bun with every single condiment added.....YUM....went there a few times after thankfully being introduced to it by Frank, but eventually, like so many good things, it disappeared........The very best part of this culinary treat story was what Frank called the double dog (he did love it despite the name:) A garbage dump on a bun!!" Ha...never forgot that treat, and his name for it! R I P, Frank!! Bill Pauss

Sorry to hear about the passing of Frank. I was his brother in law from his first marriage. He always treated me kindly, and did lots of gratis work on my early cars.....One of my fondest memories was when still only dating my sister at Christmas 1962, he and I went Christmas tree hunting on Milwaukee Ave in Chicago. We passed a hot dog joint, unfortunately long gone, called Hastee Tastee on Milwaukee. He said you have to try one of these.....a double dog, with a bun wide enough to hold the two dogs and all of the condiments.....It cost .30!!! But a lot in those days..... Frank fondly called it a "garbage dump on a bun!" Still probably my favorite hot dog of all time! Bill Pauss
