Maebelle F. Dompke

Maebelle F. Dompke, born Maebelle Frances Revell, was a fiercely independent and determined woman. She loved her dogs, her card games and her cars. She taught generations of young students, primarily at Trumbull School in Andersonville, and adored the residents she volunteered with at Misericordia Home for the intellectually and developmentally disabled. She loved to shop, and she loved to return. Salespeople at Nordstrom in Old Orchard knew her by name. Maebelle hosted legendary Christmas cookie exchanges and canasta games and filled her friends' children with her famous potato chip cookies.

Maebelle, also known as "Mae" and "Mabes," was the only child of Raymond and Isabelle Revell. As her time in memory care increased, so did Maebelle's desire to be with her parents again. Her dogs, Smudge, Molly and Harley, were never far from her mind. A proud St. Timothy's, St. Scholastica and Loyola University graduate, Maebelle loved looking through her scrapbooks, photo albums and yearbooks, and never failed to recognize the friends of her youth.

Maebelle died peacefully in her sleep at The Carrington Memory Care neighborhood on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She is survived by cousins Ron (Diane) Revell, Bonnie Revell, John Revell and Mike Revell, and many dear friends. Special thanks to the staff at The Carrington for their compassionate and skillful care.

Visitation, Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service, 11 a.m., at HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory, 8057 Niles Center Rd., Skokie.

Private Interment, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Evanston.
