Frankie Carl Swanson, aged 80, passed away comfortably at his home in Houston, Texas on March 25, 2025. Frank was born on April 12, 1944, in El Campo, Texas to Carl and Bernice Swanson.
Frank had many successes in life, both professionally and personally. However, as he grew older it was apparent that none of them truly mattered to him. He met the love of his life, Judith Hoppe, in 1972. Weeks later he took his first trip outside of Texas to Blue Island, Illinois, where he and Judy were married. From then on, she and the rest of his growing family were his top priority.
In addition to being the consummate family man, Frank was an avid golfer – he had so many holes in ones he once stated that he stopped counting them. He enjoyed escaping to the calmness of the beach and spent much of his retirement at his beach house, traveling or with his grandkids, of course with Judy by his side at all times. Frank found great pleasure in whatever made Judy happy, the fact that his boys were lucky enough to latch onto two amazing women that he was able to take in as his daughters-in-law, and celebrating the growth and achievements of his grandchildren (particularly academics, band and baseball).
Frank was survived by his loving wife, Judy; his brother, Richard; his children, Eric and Shawn; and his grandchildren, Caleb, Elissa, Kara and Micah. While he leaves a huge hole in our hearts, he also leaves us with many amazing and unforgettable memories. We are forever grateful that he taught us love, responsibility, compassion, music, fishing, silliness and countless other things. He was always there for us, whether with a hug, the perfect words or comic relief.
Cheers to you, Frank, "Nank," Dad, Papa, "Fast Frank." We celebrate you and a life well played.
