Franklin D. Callahan

May 25, 1944 – August 1, 2025

Franklin D. Callahan, 81, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. Born on May 25, 1944, in Indiana, Franklin was a quiet, kindhearted man who was deeply loved by all who knew him.

On June 14, 1997, Franklin married the love of his life, Nancy Callahan. They shared 13 wonderful years together until her passing, and his devotion to her remained unwavering.

Franklin took great pride in caring for his family, especially his beloved stepsons. He loved the outdoors and could often be found tending his yard or "piddling around" with small projects. A man of simple pleasures, one of his cherished traditions was receiving a new 1:24 scale model car each Christmas for his stepsons. He would carefully assemble each one and add it to his growing collection.

Franklin worked as a painter and carpenter for Enterprise Inc., where he dedicated himself with loyalty and skill until his retirement on April 25, 2009, after 65 years of service. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of SPC.

He was preceded in rest by his brother, Joseph Callahan, and his sisters, Shirley Augustine and Judy Midgette, as well as his stepsons, Joseph Villaseñor and John Villaseñor. Franklin is survived by three grandchildren, Julianna Villaseñor, AJ Villaseñor, and Audra Villaseñor, along with his favorite grandpups, Saint Yoda Villaseñor, Charley Baltimore, and his grand kitty, Loki Bubba Villaseñor.

Franklin's gentle nature, quiet strength, and steadfast love for his family will be remembered always. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
