With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we mourn the loss of Franklin "Butch" J. Gearhart, a man whose life was a testament to dedication, honor, and a deep love for his family. Frank passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Seguin, Texas.

Born on December 14, 1937, in Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania, Frank led a remarkable life filled with admirable accomplishments. His career as a Combat Controller and Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force spanned 25 years, during which he served his country with pride and valor, a true Hero and a Vietnam Veteran. His commitment to his military service was unwavering, and he took great pride in defending his nation.

Butch's personality shone through in every aspect of his life; he was known to be quick-witted, a funny guy who could make anyone laugh with his humor. Beyond his military service, he found joy in caring for his ranch and cattle, embodying values of honesty and hard work that inspired all who knew him.

In his spare time, he immersed himself in various interests - he was a dedicated member of the NRA, DAV, American Legion, and VFW. These affiliations reflected his unwavering support for causes close to his heart.

Frank was a beloved husband to Consuelo Medrano Gearhart and a devoted father to Robert "Bob" A. Gearhart (Karen), Julie Chavez (George), Kimberly Sue Gearhart, Amy Lynn Gearhart, and Robert G. Shawn II (Maria). His legacy lives on through his 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who will always carry forward the values he instilled in them.

As we bid farewell to him in this earthly realm, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his parents R.F. Gearhart and Freda Gearhart; brothers C.R. Gearhart, John Gearhart, James E. Gearhart; sisters Betty Bunch and Clara Gearhart who have gone before him.

Butch leaves behind siblings Dorothy Berringer, Kay Brocous, Jane Payne along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were touched by his kindness and warmth.

Franklin "Butch" J. Gearhart will be remembered not only for his remarkable achievements but also for the love and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him. May his spirit continue to inspire us all as we cherish the memories of a truly exceptional man.

A memorial gathering will be held at Palmer Mortuary on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Rendering of Military Honors will begin at 2 p.m. and a Celebration of his life will follow. Franklin will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
