Franklin Delano Lomax, son of the late James Earl Lomax and Elizabeth Gibson Lomax, was born on June 26,1936 in Chestertown, Maryland. Frank or Frankie, as he was affectionately known, departed this life on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton.
Frank received his education in Kent County, Maryland, and graduated in the class of 1953 from Garnet High School. After graduation, he worked various jobs in Chestertown, including at Washington College in the dining hall. In 1962, Frank started working as a maintenance man at Campbell Soup in Chestertown, Maryland where he worked 33 years until his retirement 1995. After retirement, Frank worked part-time for Kent County News, taking news copy from Chestertown to Easton, Maryland, where the papers were printed.
Frank was raised Catholic, and in later years, became an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chestertown. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during holidays and eating all kinds of wonderful meals. Frank also enjoyed doing yardwork and watching sports on television. While he didn't have a favorite sports team, Frank enjoyed watching baseball, football and basketball.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and four sisters, and two sons, Kent Darnell Lomax and Gregory Delano Lomax, Sr.
Frank leaves to cherish his memory, June, his dedicated wife of 67 years; his daughters, Lisa Lomax (Tommy Thomas), Tammy Lomax, and Monica Lomax; seven grandchildren, Gregory Delano Lomax, Jr. (Nakia), Adrien Lomax (Brandy), Brian Lomax, Brittney Thomas, Jordan Thomas (Tiffany), Megan Lomax and Sydney Bowman; and five great-grandchildren, Kamri Lomax, Cincere Lomax, Khalil Lomax, Amiyah Lomax, and Irelyn Lomax; one sister, Bernice Seals and one brother, John Lomax; four nieces, Veronica Dean, Vanessa Lomax, Michele White and Janice Lomax; and four nephews, Anthony Lomax, Tyrone Lomax, Charles Freeman, and Sean Lomax; one great niece, one great nephew, and a host of cousins.
