Franklin Stevens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Salisbury on Jan. 6, 2026.
Franklin Dahl Stevens, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the age of 92 in Salisbury, Maryland. Born on February 3, 1933, in Annapolis, Maryland, Jim was a man of remarkable spirit and character whose wisdom, love, and humor touched the lives of all who knew him.
Jim was the beloved husband of Kordelia Ann Stevens, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love story. Together, they raised two daughters, Jennifer Stevens and Holly Stevens Spire, who were the apple of his eye. Jim was also the proud grandfather to Abigail Stevens, Madeleine Spire, and Lucas Spire, who will remember him for his playful nature and the stories he shared.
The son of Audrey Carrick Cromar and stepson of Theodore Cromar, Jim was a man who valued family above all else. His guidance and support were the foundations upon which his family built their lives, and his legacy will continue to thrive within them.
After serving his country as a veteran of the Airforce, Jim continued his dedication to public service as an Air Traffic Specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration. His commitment to safety and excellence in the skies was a testament to his attention to detail and his deep sense of responsibility. Jim's passion for United States history was displayed through his collection of memorabilia, which he proudly shared with those who entered his home.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was known for his green thumb, particularly when it came to gardening his famous tomatoes. His garden was a place of joy and tranquility, where he spent countless hours nurturing his plants and sharing the fruits of his labor. Jim's love for the outdoors extended to bird watching, with a special fondness for the Purple Martins that visited his garden each year. In addition to bird watching in his backyard, Jim found joy in playing fetch with his beloved dogs; Minnie, Harley and Finlie.
Jim's loving nature made him a pillar in the lives of his family and friends. He possessed a quick wit and a generous spirit that never failed to bring smiles to those around him. His funny anecdotes and lighthearted jokes were the highlight of many gatherings, leaving a legacy of laughter and warmth that will be treasured by all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Jim Stevens, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will live on through the memories he created, the wisdom he imparted, and the laughter he inspired. The family would like to invite you to a celebration of life for Jim at their home on Sunday, January 25th from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

Remembering the many times my husband Jourdan and I visited the Stevens home to pick up the annal mums that granddaughter Abigail sold
Time was always allowed for Jim and Jordan to share their patriotic love for country and hope for America's better tomorrows. Two good men are now sorely missed. Deepest sympathy to Ann and the family.
