Fred Ruppenthal Obituary

Fred Ruppenthal, 92, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully after a long illness.
Fred was born on November 4, 1932, in Philadelphia. Fred lived a full and vibrant life grounded in faith, family, and fierce dedication- whether in the pool, the workplace, or at home. Fred was a decorated collegiate swimmer and accomplished salesman.
Fred met the love of his life, Joyce, while lifeguarding at Pullen Park in Raleigh. After spotting her from his post, he asked her out on a date, and the two were married exactly one year later, on August 18, 1956. Their nearly 69-year marriage was built on love, laughter, and faith. Fred often shared that Joyce had just one condition for their life together: that he attend Church with her. Not only did he agree, be he also faithfully followed her lead and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior, a commitment that would remain central throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers send donations in honor of Fred to Aspen Grove Church at https://www.aspengrovesc.org or to the Billy Graham Library at https://billygraham.org where Fred and Joyce volunteered for 10 years.
Private graveside services were held at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
