Freda Mae Daugherty met her Savior face to face on May 10th, 2025 at the age of 82. She was born on May 24th, 1942, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Geneva and Leslie Beal. She was the beloved sister of Glenn, James, Erma and Joyce. Freda lived a life marked by devotion to her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for family. Freda graduated from Earlsboro High School and went on to work at the Capitol as a file clerk.
In 1961, Freda married the love of her life, Bill Daugherty and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her children Dawna Newton and husband Wes, Deborah Boydstun and husband Byron, Michelle Axmacher and husband Chuck. She was a loving grandmother to Paige and Jeremy Northcutt, Bruce and Andria Boydstun, Bethany Boydstun, Shannon and Jeshua Coon, Taylor and Trey Walding, Byron Boydstun Jr., Janna Boydstun, Brooklyn Boydstun, Juls Boydstun, Cole and Emily Newton, Chloe Newton, Chas Axmacher and Addison Axmacher. She was a loving great-grandmother or "Gigi" to 12 great grandchildren – Caleb, Bonnie, Mackenzie, Eli, Madelynn, Lili, Mallory, Frank, Atlas, Evangeline, Brooks and Silas.
Freda enjoyed teaching young children in Sunday School. She loved babies and couldn't resist kissing the little toes and fingers of each new baby she met. She loved to host friends and family in her home. She was famous for her pecan pie. She loved music and enjoyed hearing a variety of musical performances especially if family was involved. She loved traveling with her husband in their travel trailer. They traveled all over the U.S. and even ventured to Canada and Mexico on occasion, with one trip in their 70s taking them all the way to Thailand to visit beloved missionary friends. Her favorite trips were when her grandkids joined them or the trips that ended in a city where her grandkids lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Glenn Beal and brother James Beal. Freda's legacy is one of quiet devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, undying love for her husband Bill, children, and grandchildren. Her kind spirit and genuine smiles will be remembered by all.
