Fred "Freddie" Eugene Clark, age 73, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Rome, Georgia on November 18, 1951, Fred lived a life marked by service, hard work, and deep love for his family and community. He was the son of the late Lewis Clark and Carolyn Kiker. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
A proud graduate of West Rome High School, Fred went on to dedicate over three decades of his life to the Rome Fire Department, serving faithfully from 1976 until his retirement in 2008 as a respected captain. Known for his leadership and unwavering dedication to his crew, Fred was a mentor to many and had a profound impact on those around him. Freddie continued his passion for meaningful work by opening his own fire prevention business, Rome Hydro-Test in the 1980's which remains operational to this day, demonstrating his exceptional work ethic.
He loved staying busy, whether it was working, mowing his lawn, cooking, or traveling and spending quality time with his wife. He especially enjoyed spending time at his lake house on Lake Eufaula, where he took great pride in caring for the property.
Freddie was an active and devoted member of Pisgah Baptist Church and a longtime member of Coosa Lodge No. 622. His faith guided his life, and his quiet acts of kindness reflected his heart for helping others. Freddie had a remarkable ability to recognize when someone was in need and would offer help without hesitation or expectation of reciprocation.
A man who appreciated the simple joys in life, Freddie also loved old cars and found great satisfaction in admiring their restoration. He cherished time spent with his children, stepchildren, and grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as a really good "Friday," a title that perfectly captured the warmth and joy he brought into their lives.
Freddie was more loved than he ever realized. His impact on his family, friends, and community will be felt for generations to come.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ansley Clark, his son, Coy Clark; his stepchildren, Alex Silvers, Blair Knight (Dustin), and Sara Silvers; his grandchildren, Lily Knight, Hendrix Silvers, and Stella Knight; his niece, Teryn Jarrett; as well as numerous beloved extended family members.
Freddie will be cremated according to his wishes.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. to Pisgah Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Dudley officiating.

I remember Freddie from our teenage years when we both worked on Broad Street. He worked at Redfords 5 & 10 store. He cooked chili hamburgers and always had a smile and something funny to say when we came in for lunch. Later I got to know him thru the Fire Dept. and he was still just as smiley as when he was a teenager. We will miss him.
