Shirley Ann Payne

Mrs. Shirley A Payne, age 85, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at her residence.
Shirly was born in Floyd County on July 8, 1940, daughter of the late Odell Garmon and the late Eunice Nelson Garmon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Payne; her daughter, Heather Payne; her son Randy Wiggins; her sisters, Brenda Dixon, Gaynell Dowdy, and Betty Faye Freeman; her brother, Bill Garmon; and her daughter in law, Kristol Tucker.
She was a member at Radio Springs Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement she worked in food services for Floyd County schools. She was an avid wrestling fan; it was her passion; she loved every aspect of it. Everyone at wrestling loved her too, she was affectionately known as "Mamaw" to everyone there. She lived for every other Saturday night when it was time to go watch wrestling. She loved fiercely; she will be missed by all.
Survivors include her children, Ricky Wiggins (Tiffany), Rita Middleton (James), Shane Payne, and Russell Wiggins (Angela); her grandchildren, Jason Middleton (Cindy), Melanie Robinson (Chris), Erica Quinn (Nate), Amanda Buchanan (Kevin), Austin Paye (Hailie), Kodi Weatherby (Katie), Kensi Payne (Ulises), Erin Patterson (Eric), Emily Gunnells, Blake Spears, Tanner Spears, and Joe Little; several great grandchildren, Several great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; her loving friends and caregivers, Alice Cook and Destiny Milstead; and her fur babies, Stormy and Snowflake.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 4:00pm in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Robert Vines officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 3:50pm on Monday and include Landon Kelly, Ulises Godinez, Charlie Boozer, Levi Sunday, Nate Edwards, and Shane Hartly.
