Frederick Roger Draper, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, at his home in
Crawfordville, Florida with his surviving wife of 13 years, Carol Draper, by his side.
Frederick was born in Buffalo, NY on November 10, 1941, to Frederick Oliver Draper and
Madelyn M. Glenn Draper. Frederick, affectionately known as "Roger," during his childhood and
"Fred" during his adult years, was the eldest of three surviving siblings; Jimmy, Debbie, and
Diane; Father to his two surviving children, Frederick Scott Draper and Kristin Kay Archer and
proud grandfather to his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Frederick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, graduating from TCU with a
BBA and went on to launch and lead his own successful plastics manufacturing company in the
Dallas area until he retired at 63.
Fred was known for his quick wit and photographic memory. He lived most of his adult life in
North Texas and when he wasn't working, he was probably cooking up something delicious in
the kitchen or a juicy brisket on his smoker. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working
crossword puzzles but if he wasn't home on the weekend then you could bet, he was likely in a
duck blind with his hunting dog waiting to drop some game or attending a Ducks Unlimited
meeting.
Several years ago, he was diagnosed with a rare form of MD called Inclusion Body Myositis
(IBM). If you were one of his friends or family members, then you know he wasn't one for flash or
being the center of attention. In lieu of any formal services the family is having a private
memorial service to honor his life at one of his favorite duck hunting lakes in Texas. In lieu of flowers, if you feel led to give something in his name, please consider supporting the ongoing research to cure IBM
at one of the two embedded links on the following website: cureibm.org/donate/ or consider a
donation to his favorite charity "Texans on Mission" - historically called Texas Baptist Men. They
bring hope and helping hands during times of crisis in Texas and all across the US. If you'd like
to make a donation visit: www.texansonmission.org/ways-to-give
Roger, Fred, Dad, Pawpaw, we love you.
Until we see you again, you will be missed and thought of often.
