James Edward McGrath, 79, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Hospice of Wichita Falls. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 10th, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Anthony Levell officiating. The family welcomes friends to a visitation following the service.

A son of late Frank McGrath and Frances (Davidson), Jim was born on December 7, 1945, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He and Ann Camp were married May 9, 1970, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School in 1964, and still holds the Shot Put record. Also, he earned a BBA degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas in 1969.

In the early 70's, he worked for the Federal CETA program before founding McGrath Brothers Concrete with his brother, Tom. The company poured many streets, foundations and gas holes in the city.

Jim was a member of the Arc of Wichita County, Region 9 Special Olympics, North Texas Woodcarvers, and the National Association of Woodcarvers. His carvings "Cartoons in Wood" were featured every month in the National magazine, "Chip Chats". He was a football-playing, shot-putting, poetry-writing, concrete-pouring, woodcarving artist who loved life, his family and his friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances McGrath; his sister, Jody Jones; cousin, Keith Miller; and sister-in-law, Connie Camp Phillis.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Sean; sister, Betty Cloud and husband Tommy; brother, Tom McGrath and wife Deon; and brother-in-law, Brit Camp; nieces, Lisa Campetti, Amanda Menasco, and Jennifer McGrath; nephews, Michael Jones, Andy Rice, Jason McGrath and John McGrath; cousins Lisa Talley, Bill Davidson, Dewain Davidson, Richard Miller and Amye Miller; and special friends Johnny Tidwell, Sammy Milam, Neal Wilhelm and Fred Barber.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be sent to The Arc Wichita County, 3315 Buchanan, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308; Interfaith Ministries, 1101 Eleventh Street, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76301; or Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lunnscolonial.com.
