Frederick Henry Illingworth, lovingly known as Fred, passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 59 after a short illness. Born on October 13, 1965, in Boston, MA, Fred spent his early years with his parents and brothers in Michigan, Upstate New York, the Boston Area, and Cape Cod, MA. His married life was spent in Middleborough, MA, Wilmington, DE and Austin, TX before eventually making his final career stint in Williston, ND in September of this year.
Fred was a proud graduate of Michigan State University and Suffolk Law School. He later went on to study Trusts and Estates at the National Trust School through the American Bankers Association at the University of Chicago. And proceeded to earn a Trust degree (CTFA) from the National Graduate Trust School (ABA) at Northwestern University.
His legal expertise was matched only by his remarkable knowledge of sports statistics, making him an invaluable friend to those who sought his advice or simply wanted to engage in spirited conversation. Fred loved nothing more than gathering with friends and family, often around a great steak, his favorite meal, along with Jenn's renowned mashed potatoes and a Chick-fil-A ice cream cone, affectionately known as the "Fred Cone."
An avid sports fan, Fred enjoyed watching football, baseball and basketball and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite Boston teams (ALL) and the Spartans of Michigan State. His love for music was evident in his fondness for classic bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, AC/DC, and country music such as Jason Aldean. Fred had a unique passion for reality TV shows and read four newspapers a day, always staying informed and ready to discuss the latest happenings.
Fred was more than just a devoted husband to his wife, Jennifer, with whom he shared 26 wonderful years of marriage; he was also a very proud father to his 18-year-old twins, Liam and Nora, who are both starting their college journeys. Charlie, the family dog, was truly his best buddy.
He is also survived by his brothers, John, Joseph, and Mark, who will carry on his legacy of wit, charisma, and kindness.
Beyond his family, Fred made a significant impact on his community as a youth football coach and a member of a local Republican group. He was a Roman Catholic who lived his faith through his actions, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it was providing legal advice or simply being a listening ear.
Fred will be remembered for his intelligence, humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and the community he served.
