Mr. Frederick Dancy Kelly, A loving father of two passed away at the age of 64 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, Virginia on Monday, April 3rd, 2023.
Fred was born on November 25, 1958 in North Carolina to Joseph and Mattie Kelly. He received a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Norfolk State University. He practiced Kinesiology at the VA hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Fred studied and earned his ASE certification, which allowed him to switched careers to become an automotive mechanic, working for the United States Post Office.
Fred was known for his passion and expertise in kinesiology and auto mechanics. He enjoyed working with his hands, fixing cars, and solving mechanical puzzles. His knowledge in these area were well-known among his friends and family. Fred passion for auto mechanics was passed down from his dad SGT Joseph Kelly, who was a master mechanic working on cars and taught helicopter mechanics for the US Army and abroad.
Fred had a zest for life that was contagious. His adventurous nature surely was inspired by his entire family. They often traveled in his younger years, since they where a military family. Fred was known for his love of the outdoors and his passion for fishing. He enjoyed spending time in nature, casting his line into the waters, competing on the tennis courts or teeing off on the golf course.
These hobbies brought him joy, relaxation and connection to his family and friends. Fred taught his children how to swim- due to his love for fishing and inspiration from his brother Wendell. His love of tennis and homemade meals, often from scratch came from his mother, Mattie Kelly. He was always eager to share his enthusiasm and skills with others.
Fred loved spending time with his family, and his role as a father & grandfather brought him immeasurable joy. His two children, Joseph and Kayla. He cherished spending time with them and took great pride in watching them grow and thrive, nurturing their interests, and supporting their dreams. He was a loving and caring father who made a lasting impact on their lives.
He had a great sense of humor and was known for his witty jokes and anecdotes, which could always bring a smile to anyone's face. He was always there to lend a listening ear, offer support, and provide words of wisdom. His presence brought comfort and solace to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Fred was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph and Mattie Kelly and his brother, Wendell Kelly. He is survived by his daughter, Kayla Kelly, his son and wife, Joseph and Tempestt Kelly, Grandchildren- Logan and Joseph Kelly Jr. His sister Audrey Gostomski, and brothers Alvin, Joseph, and Darryl Kelly, and his nieces and nephews.
Fred will be forever remembered and treasured in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that he has left a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
Rest in peace, dear Fred. You will be deeply missed, forever loved and your memory will be forever.

I grew up with Fred we close childhood friends. Played little league basketball on Fort Eustis, graduated from high school together in 1976. My condolence to the family. Fred is in good hands now. God bless.
