Frederick Leo Mohr died December 5, 2022. Loving husband of Velma for 64 years, Fred was the youngest child of Marie Brockman Mohr and Edward L. Mohr.Fred was born on October 3, 1929 in Cincinnati, OH. The family moved to Bellevue, KY across the Ohio river where Fred attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and lettered in four sports at Bellevue High School. After graduation, Fred joined the U.S. Navy in 1948. After an honorable discharge, he joined the Ohio Ball Bearing Company (later Applied Industrial Technologies) and attended evening classes at Xavier University. He was later transferred as a manager to the company's southern subsidiary, Dixie Bearings, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.While working in Baton Rouge, he agreed to a blind date with Velma Crane of Ponchatoula and the two were married in 1958. Fred was transferred again to Atlanta in 1963 where he established an aircraft division for the company, serving both domestic and foreign carriers. After a 20-year stint in Atlanta, Fred was named vice president of sales and marketing and transferred to the company's headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983. Fred continued to travel the United States and Europe until his retirement in 1994.Fred and Velma returned to Atlanta and built their retirement home on Lake Oconee in Greene County, GA. Fred enjoyed golf and numerous volunteer activities at Christ our King and Savior Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.He is survived by his wife Velma and his brother Bob of Central Lake, Michigan; daughter-in-law Susan (wife of his late son, Gregory) and their children Catherine Bocanegra (Tito), Caroline Roberts (Elliot) and Christina; son Michael and his wife Sheila and their children Meredith Comerford (Joey), Joseph (Callie), Daniel and Natalie; daughter Lisa Bir and her husband, Steve and their children, Andrew (Amber), Matthew, James and Paul; son Christopher and his wife Mindi and their children Marin, Steven, Valencia, Kerby, Megan and Laurencia; son Philip and his wife Tracy and their children Maggie, Maribeth and Katie; daughter Anne and her husband Terry and Anne's children Jackson, Alison and Lucas; great grandchildren Hudson and Iris and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Gregory, his grandson Sam and his brother, Ed.Funeral mass will be held at 10am on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro, GA followed by a private interment service at Honey Creek Woodlands at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA.Memorial contributions can be made to Christ our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Pkwy, Greensboro, GA 30642 or the Macular Degeneration Association, 5969 Cattleridge Boulevard, Suite 100, Sarasota, FL 34232.View current weather.
