Frederick Zyliak, 76, passed away in Va Beach, VA on Sept 22nd, 2025. A resident of Virginia Beach, VA, Fred leaves his wife, Patricia Zyliak, of 40+ years here for us to cherish as well as his two brothers Bruce and George Zyliak and younger sister Sandy Zyliak. Fred is preceded in death by his parents Marie Sherman, William Sherman, Fred Zyliak Sr and his sister Linda Bascom.

Fred was born in Manchester, NH. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Marine Corps to serve his country. Fred, a proud Marine, served 9 years in the Marine Corps and 2 terms in Vietnam and once he left active duty, Fred began his family and a long successful career at the federal civil service level within logistics. Fred was a very passionate and proud patriot.

In his retirement and later years, Fred enjoyed leading philanthropic work with a wonderful group of like-minded individuals known as the Kelly's Legionnaires. Started in October 2013, as an original member and President of this wonderful non-profit, Fred truly enjoyed collaborating with his peers on how to best support those in need within his local community. Spanning the decade he and many others involved have helped 150 families and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Patricia Zyliak, his kids Beth Chalbeck, her husband Mark and three kids Katelyn Peters and husband Kai Peters, John and Seth Chalbeck along with his great granddaughter, Melody. His son, Billy Zyliak, along with his wife Erica and their two daughters Madison and Tatum. His daughter Jacqueline Sheppard and her son Xzavier Moran. His daughter Stacey Dubois and her daughter Kayla and his son Michael Lanoix. The leadership of the Legionnaires Mark Neville, Shay Golden and Clinton Bernard Young. As well as many well-loved family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you want to participate, please feel free to make a small donation to the Kelly's legionnaires (using Venmo . . . @Kelly's-Legionnaires). The group will remain focused on what Fred and others started with helping this local community. The family will host a grave site service at Albert G, Horton, JR. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA on November 3rd at 11am. Following the service there will be a private gathering for the family members. There will be a celebration of life held at Kelly's restaurant on Saturday, Nov 1st. Please reference Kelly's legionnaire's Facebook page to gain the details.
