Fredrick Eugene DePorter

Fredrick Eugene DePorter, 78, of Holly Springs, NC passed away on August 4, 2022
at Transitions Lifecare Raleigh, NC. He was born on January 7,1944 in Philadelphia, PA to Walter and Ann DeMara DePorter.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Georgette Farley DePorter, daughter Megan A. Zeishner (Harold Zeishner) of Apex, NC, sons Michael F. DePorter of Wilmington, NC and Drew D. DePorter (Cameron DePorter) of Pinehurst, NC, as well as his three grandchildren, Hayden Georgette Zeishner, Zachary Emanuele Zeishner, and Willow Frances DePorter, and siblings Robert DePorter (Doris DePorter) of Horsham, PA, Jim DePorche of Las Vegas, NV, and Deborah DePorter of Horsham, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ann DePorter of Philadelphia, PA, and brother
Donald Francis DePorter of Sacramento, CA.
Gene served in the United States Air Force. He earned a BS degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master's in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. Gene was an avid reader, active sportsman, and community volunteer. He organized the Allegheny Rugby Union and sat on the boards of the McGregor Rotary Club, Lochmere Homeowners Association, the Triangle Educational Advancement Foundation, and acted as a volunteer with the Red Cross and Local USO. He was retired after a 42-year career in health service development.
The family will greet friends at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church 3008 Old Raleigh Rd, Apex on Friday August 19, 2022, from 10:15am - 10:45am. The eulogy will take place from 10:45am – 11:00am, and funeral Mass will follow, officiated by Father Daniel Oschwald.
Interment will be at St Andrew the Apostle Columbarium.
