Fredrick Clinton "Rick" Surrett Jr.

Mr. Fredrick "Rick" Clinton Surrett, Jr., 72, passed Monday, November 24, 2025 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of High Point and attended High Point City Schools, completing his education at North Carolina State University with a degree in Architectural studies. Prior to his retirement, Rick worked as an insurance adjuster for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Rick was preceded in death by his wife and "his person", Mendee Ellis Surrett. He is survived by his son (and his "other person") Benjamin Clay Surrett; his brother, R. Scott Surrett and wife Nancy, and his nephews, Scott Jr. and Kevin. He is also survived by his precious yard cat, "Sweets".

An avid reader and habitual thrifter, Rick enjoyed actively working out and visiting the smaller mountain communities of western North Carolina, where he met many friends while working for the NC DPI.

"Son, " he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home".

A private graveside ceremony will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA of the Triad.
