Gail L. McLeod, of White Lake and former resident of Milford, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023, at 88 years old.
Daughter of the late Erwin and Elsie Hofmeister. Beloved mother to Raymond McLeod II (Cathy), Robert McLeod (Michele), Kimberly Prueter (Timothy), and James McLeod (Lisa). Loving grandmother to Rachel (Michael), Cari (Troy), Drew (Colleen), Michael, David (Ashley), Tyler, Libbey, Emily, Elliott (Luke), Stephanie, Amy (Chris), and Courtney (Julian). Great grandmother to Charley, Weston, Hallee, Brielle, Graysen, Payton, Camden, Ryan and also a sweet great-grand baby on the way. Also leaves behind her loving sisters, Jean (Michael) Thieroff, Linda (Kenneth) Haupt, Norma (Ed) Sander; and many extended nieces and nephews in Michigan and dear friends in Michigan and Florida.
Gail is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Raymond E. McLeod, and her brother Ronald Hofmeister.
Gail was known for her sense of style and her love for her family & friends. One less bright star; one more angel in heaven. Gail was a devoted member of Cedar Crest Lutheran Church in White Lake, where she taught weekly Sunday school classes, helped with Children Village and led a "pre-teen" group with fun monthly activities. After Cedar Crest closed, she became a member at Christ Lutheran Church in Milford. Early on, Gail worked at GM in downtown Detroit but left her job after getting married to become a full-time homemaker to her four children. She later waitressed at The Flame and Copperstone restaurants, where she had many wonderful co-workers & great customers. After her husband Ray retired from The Detroit News, they moved to Treasure Island, Florida, where they formed many long-lasting friendships and enjoyed countless beautiful sunsets together.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Milford at 11:00am on Friday, March 31st 2023 with Reverend Kenneth Haupt and Rev. Dr. Andrew Johnson officiating, visitation 10am-11am.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Lynch and Sons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gail's honor to the Michigan Humane Society.

Auntie Gail will always have a special place in my heart. I have a lifetime of memories from my younger years of visiting when she lived on Cooley Lake. Her smile was always warm and inviting. Rest in peace Aunt Gail, you had a wonderful life, and touched many hearts.

Gail was a very special lady, and we will remember the joy she brought to the world. She always enjoyed holidays and celebrations, and we often laughed when confetti would come flying out of a greeting card she'd sent. We send our sympathies to the McLeod family, and we thank God that Gail is now in His loving arms.

Gail was my friend and neighbor at Chateau Tower. We shared so many good times and laughs together. She has been missed here since she and Ray moved to Michigan but she always kept in touch. Love you and miss you Gail.
