Gail S. Mitchell

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Gail S. Mitchell, 64, of Brandon, who went home peacefully on August 27, 2025. A devoted wife, cherished mother, and adoring “Nanny,” Gail was the very heart of our family.

Born on September 8, 1960, in Morton to Winnie May and Charlie Shoemaker, Gail dedicated her life to caring for others. She was a pillar of strength whose home radiated warmth, laughter, and sparkle—always filled with glitter, rhinestones, and love.

Gail’s greatest joy came from her role as “Nanny.” She found boundless happiness in the lives of her grandchildren and nurtured a unique, unforgettable bond with each of them. She celebrated every success, no matter how small, and poured her love into creating lasting memories they will hold forever.

Her life and legacy will be lovingly carried on by her husband of 33 years, Dennis Mitchell; her children, Krissa Moore and Brandon Mitchell (wife Emily); her treasured grandchildren, Abigail, Erica, David Moore, and Audrey Mitchell; and her siblings, Lillie Mae (Billy Wooten), Charlie Ray, and Ruby Nell (Bobby Williams). She was preceded in death by her parents, Winnie May and Charlie Shoemaker, and her brother, Billy Dale Shoemaker.

Gail had a vibrant spirit and a passion for creativity. She found joy in diamond painting, needlepoint, shopping, and cozy evenings watching television. Her ability to find beauty in life’s simplest moments was a gift she shared freely with all who knew her.

Gail’s impact on her family and community will be remembered with deep love and gratitude. Her spirit will live on in the laughter, traditions, and cherished memories she so thoughtfully created.
