Garnet M. Hemenway, a beloved member of the Bay City community, passed away May 3, 2025 after a long and fulfilling life. Born to the late Leslie and Ruth (Giddings) Reed in Bay City, Garnet dedicated her life to her family and her work.
Garnet began her career as a server at Little Paul's Restaurant, where she was known for her warm smile and exceptional service. Later, she became the proud owner of Parkway Party Store, which she operated for several years, becoming a cherished figure in the neighborhood.
Garnet was married to Donald Lee Hemenway, who predeceased her in 2004. Together, they were married for 55 years. They built a loving family and shared many wonderful memories. Garnet found great joy in cooking and treasured the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughter Leeann (Joe) Gosciak and son Donald V. Hemenway, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Garnet was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Elaine Bedell, and her brothers Francis and Warren Reed.
