Mr. Garth LaGrone

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Garth LaGrone, 84, of Deadwood, Texas will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Deadwood Cemetery Pavillion with Rev. Chester Farmer officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home.

Mr. Garth Dale LaGrone was born September 15, 1941, in Deadwood, Texas. He passed this life February 16, 2026, in the Deadwood Texas home he loved. Garth was one of three boys born to the marriage of Alice Oneida Spradley and Harvard Truitt LaGrone. He was raised in Deadwood schooled in Carthage graduating with the Bulldog class of 1959. He served his country through the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Korea as a dog handler. Garth would marry his love, Martha Wooten on October 18, 1969 and they celebrated 57 years together. Mr. LaGrone worked as a Stationary Engineer for General Motors and spent a lifetime ranching in Deadwood. He was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and Beef Master Breeders United, active in the local Lone Star chapter. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenneth and Lynn LaGrone.

Mr. LaGrone is survived by his loving wife Martha LaGrone and their special pet, Honey; nieces and nephews Angie Conatser and husband Billy, Renee Rambin, Kevin LaGrone and wife Paula, Marlene LaGrone, Lynette Alford and husband Chad; extended family, Charles Ford and late wife Teresa, Monica and Brian Gauntt, Penny Ford, Ty Gauntt, Taylor Gauntt and Austin Gauntt and a host of friends and neighbors.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Gauntt, Ty Gauntt, Kevin LaGrone, Jody LaGrone, Billy Conatser and Dale LaGrone. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ford, Joe Ben LaGrone, Bob Spradley and Jason Maricle.

The family wishes to thank special care givers, Liz Maricle, Carson Pride, Sierra Dickerson, and the staff of Hospice Plus, Dana Thurman, RN and Amber Sparks.
