Gary Leon Brown, of St. Johns, died on August 18, 2025, at his home at the age of 79.

Gary was born on January 27, 1946, in St. Johns, Michigan, one of six children to the late Norman Brown and Mary (Torok) Brown. He was a 1964 graduate of Fowler School, where he met the love of his life, Betty, in geography class. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War, stationed in Guam, and working his way up to Sergeant. After serving his country, he married Betty on September 5, 1969, at Most Holy Trinity in Fowler.

Gary dedicated 38 years to the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for the St. Johns Post Office. He took great pride in his job and loved being able to meet new people and children on his mail routes. He was also a volunteer at St. Vincent in St. Johns for over 20 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. All knew Gary as an extremely unselfish and giving person. Gary also enjoyed hunting, camping, being outdoors, gardening, kayaking, traveling all 50 states and was an avid photographer. Most of all, Gary was a dedicated family man and found great happiness spending time with his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in attending and supporting his grandchildren in all their sports and activities.

Gary is survived by his wife, Betty Brown; children, Todd (Mary) Brown, Kelly (Jeff) Hyde, Dan (Heidi) Brown, Christy (Brock) Rose; 12 grandchildren, Sierra, Nate, Autumn, Ryan, Bryce, Sullivan, Peyton, Caleb, Taylor, Skyler, Jacob, and Megan; great-grandchild, Oakley; siblings, Pat Baldwin, Richard (Mary Lue) Brown, Ron (Karen) Brown, Denny (Suzi) Brown, and Karen Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Mary Brown.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 2:30 PM until 7:00 PM at McGeehan Funeral Home - Keck Coleman Chapel, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, with visitation one hour before mass. Burial will follow at Mount Rest Cemetery in St. Johns.
