Gary Lee Buser Jr

Gary Lee Buser, Jr. of Ocean View NJ, formerly of Westampton NJ, passed away peacefully on
December 2, 2023 after a brief illness. He was 65.
Born in Bristol PA, Gary had a wonderful childhood in a very close-knit neighborhood in Willingboro NJ, attended St. Paul's School in Burlington, and was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Delran. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Rider University, where he played shortstop for the baseball team. He later went on to earn a Master's Degree in Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University.
Gary worked for many years at Dow Jones and was instrumental in their early leap to technology. He later worked for Duke University Medical, and eventually came back to NJ to end his career working for Princeton University.
Everyone who knew Gary was aware of his love for education and his amazing depth of knowledge in many areas. He was a bit of a Renaissance Man. Gary enjoyed classical music, especially the works of Mozart. He also loved literature and was a collector of rare and classic books, which he often shared with family. His family and friends also delighted in his passion for Geology, which originated in the 60's with the geology sets that he enjoyed receiving under the Christmas tree.
During his time as a resident of Westampton he coached his childrens' sports teams, and he was instrumental in founding the Westampton Roller Hockey League. Gary was a great athlete and never gave up his competitive spirit.
Beneath his "crusty exterior" that we all knew and loved, Gary exhibited a generous, humble, and passionate manner about himself. He leaves a void in our lives and hearts.
Gary is survived by his adoring wife of 38 years, Patricia, his son, Griffin, and his daughter Samantha McAvey (and husband, Kevin). He leaves behind a beautiful granddaughter, Charlie, and his beloved dog, Georgie. Gary is also survived by his mother, Fernanda, and his siblings Robin, Marylyn, and Aaron.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday December 9 at 12 noon. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10 AM -12 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to the Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter at www.friendsofbcas.org or Hounds in Pounds animal rescue at www.houndsinpounds.com/donate
