Uncle Gary (and Aunt Helen) were not just an Uncle and Aunt to me but also friends. My wife, daughter and I spent many days hanging out at their lake cottage, and many times they came out to our place.
Uncle Gary had his group of buddies, I golfed with them a couple times, and he loved light hearted banter with the boys. I occasionally did electrical work for him and he´d say "Boy you sure know how to milk it", as he was paying me per hour, or "I´m not sure I want to plug anything into the outlets your installing."
He was patient, low key, successful, confident, no frills, and a family man. When he was at Dickson Hollow I´d call him and until the last year always welcomed me visiting him or going to lunch, sometimes on the same day I called. He´d fly out of the building with his walker and I´d tell him to SLOW DOWN so I could locate the speed traps.
As with anyone old age took it´s toll, but he was always upbeat and didn´t complain to me.
The picture is on a day a couple years ago when we cruised around a golf course we golfed at years ago.
Take care Uncle Gary.
