Gary Lee Deucore, the son of Harry and Anna Hamilton Deucore was born on January 10, 1946 in Mahaska County. Gary was the second of four brothers, and a rival for first troublemaker. He attended North Mahaska High School and graduated with the class of 1964. Gary was drafted into the United States Army in 1965 serving in the Vietnam war receiving three purple hearts before he was honorably discharged. Gary married Joyce McKay in May of 1971. They became the parents of Brandi and Garrett. During his life, he drove truck, helped local farmers, worked for John Ahrens building foundations for homes, and helping spread fertilizer with Dick Grubb. On January 6, 1984 Gary was united in marriage to Lodi Capper, his high school sweetheart. This created a blended family introducing K.C., Kaelyn, and Kammi to his life. They owned the Rainbow Shack in Montezuma. They had a huge garden and sold produce. Following Lodi's death, Gary closed the Rainbow Shack. He loved to garden, hunt and fish. He belonged to the Barnes City Legion, VFW, NRA, Pheasants Forever, Military Order of Purple Heart, and Ducks Unlimited. Later in life, Gary enjoyed pepsi-time with Betsy, and spending time with his dog.

Gary is survived by his children; K.C. (Stephanee) Morrison of Holt, Florida, Brandi Maschmann of Montezuma, Kaelyn (Joe) Evans of St. Paul, MN, Garrett (Heather) Deucore of Barnes City, Kammi (Phil) Hilyar of Ramsey, MN, foster children, Heather, Amber, Tillie and Kayla; close friend, Betsy Hiner; many grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; brothers, Vernon (Grace) Deucore of Missouri, Arlen (Amie) Deucore of Ohio and Steve Deucore of Barnes City, as well as many other friends and relatives.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lodi Deucore.
